A Special Bonus Question for the Weekend, one more dealing with the Junior/Senior Prom 1987. We asked:
THE QUESTION: What were the last two songs played at the 1987 Junior/Senior Prom?
This was a multiple choice question, with the following potential answers for BOTH questions:
"Let the Good Times Roll" by The Cars
"Let's Go" by The Cars
"Lean on Me" by Club Nouveau
"Dancing in the Dark" by Bruce Springsteen
"Don't Let It End" by Styx
"Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now" by Starship
"The Time of My Life" by Bill Medley and Jennifer Varnes
"Fight For Your Right" by the Beastie Boys
The correct answers: "Lean on Me" by Club Nouveau was the next-to-last song
"Fight For Your Right" by the Beastie Boys was the last song

We were trying to trap our contestants by putting up two songs by The Cars, with "Let the Good Times Roll" being a perennial favorite as it had been performed a number of times by Decembrist Uprise. "Don't Let It End" would have been a good guess, considering the lyrics to the song. "The Time of My Life" would have also been a good guess, especially for a next-to-last song (one last slow dance), but the thing is, this song wasn't even released until the late summer of 1987. But, interestingly enough, the Prom ended with much fist-pumping and chants of "Parrrrrrty!"
We received two entries for this question, and neither person got both answers correct, although one person did get "Fight For Your Right" at the last song. However, we are going to have to disqualify the whole question itself, because while we have a reference for "Fight For Your Right" being the last song, we do not have an actual reference for "Lean On Me" being the last song (in spite of the fact that we thought we had a reference when we posted the question); the only evidence that we have for this being the correct answer is our own memories, as it is the only song that we danced to (with Dawn Quillen, if you must know).
Being the good sports that we are, however, we are going to declare the two entrants the winners for this question, just on the basis that they even bothered to participate.
