RESULTS FOR WEEK SEVEN: April 13, 2007

We asked:

THE QUESTION: Where was this photo taken?

The only clue that we can offer is that if you came to Model in your Junior or Senior year, then you probably never went to this place.

The hint was meant to imply that the photo was taken at a place that you might go to in your Freshman or Sophomore years, but not in your Junior or Senior years. So, maybe, it had to do with a required course that you would take in your first two years but not in your last two. Which classes were specific to Freshmen and Sophomores, other than classes like English I and II? Unless you either tested out or managed to skip ahead, there's the math classes (freshmen took Algebra I and sophomores took Geometry), and there's also the science classes (freshmen took Earth Science and sophomores took Biology). And there's your answer:

The correct answer: MAYWOODS

If you were in student in Dr. Donald Birdd's Biology class (taken by the majority of the Class of 1987 in their sophomore year), then one of the overnight field trips taken was to Maywoods Environmental and Educational Laboratory. Overnight field trips to Maywoods were also a staple of Middle School science classes as well. The photo used in this week's Trivia Question is of the overflow drainage thing for Edmenston Lake, which also supplied the water for the Maywoods Lodge. Ah, who could forget that sulfur-infused water?

We received five entries to this week's contest, and four were absolutely correct. The one incorrect answer was "Lake Reba" ... good guess, but the restoration of Lake Reba began in 1989 and the current park and recreational complex opened in 1994. Back when we were in high school, Lake Reba was a dry, empty, weed-filled lake bed.
