We asked:
THE QUESTION: Who were the Prom Dates for Tracy Greenwell, Peggy Lin, Michelle Hawley, Eydie Walters and Karen Adams,
from the following: Mark Johns, Jimmy Kwak, Otto Helmuth, Chad Ward, Andrew Teague (Class of 1988), and Chris Mullins (Transylvania University student)
This was essentially a matching question, as the potential answers were already given, in an attempt to make this question a little easier (for those who may have been intimidated by the difficulty of the previous week's question. But just to make things interesting, we listed six guys as the potential dates of five girls, and asked the Bonus Question of Who was the Prom Date for the remaining guy?
We did offer a clue with a note to "Please consider your answers very carefully ... this is a Double Bonus Question and we wouldn't necessarily make things this simple" because, in actuality, the Bonus question was a trick question and we were pretty sure that no one would remember the answer ... but at the very least, we were pretty sure that at least someone would get the first part of the question, the matching part, correct. Turns out we were completely wrong. But more on that in a minute.

So there you have it. The Bonus Question was a Trick Question in that Jimmy did not have a date for the Senior Prom and he attended by himself.
While four of the above six photos are from the crummy over-exposed bad flash photography of the JLK Archives that no one has seen until now, there are photos of Otto & Tracy and Andrew & Michelle in the 1987 Exemplar, so if you had a yearbook, then the only thing that you had to remember was that Jimmy and Peggy did not go to the Senior Prom together. If you were thinking, "But I could have sworn I saw those two together at Prom," you are probably recalling the Junior (1986) Prom:

In spite of our attempts to make this question easier by providing the answers to the question itself, no one got it right out of the record-low THREE entries that we received (and this was after we extended the deadline by an extra two days)! All three entrants correctly matched up Eydie and Mark, but there was a lot of variation among the other couples. One entrant correctly matched Peggy & Chris and deduced that Jimmy was the odd man out, but swapped the dates of Tracy and Karen (those Decembrist Uprise members are confusing). As a matter of fact, only one entrant did not deduce that Jimmy was the answer for the Bonus Question, so this question obviously wasn't as difficult as the lack of entries would make it out to be.
Since we only received three entries this week (and one of them AFTER the deadline) and no one correctly matched all five couples, we have decided, due to the low turnout, that we are going to go ahead anyway and award ALL THREE entrants as the winners for the week.
