Perhaps daunted by the difficulty of the questions or a misunderstanding as to how the contest worked, only 4 out of 10 entrants from the previous week returned.

Jill T. and Tracy P., neither of whom participated in the first question, make their first appearances in the contest with this question, and, along with Denny French, would go on to participate in the most questions.

Originally, no one submitted an answer to this question when it was originally presented, and it was only after re-wording the question, dropping the Double Bonus stipulation, and extending the deadline over the weekend that this question then garnered four entries.

Interestingly, the answer to the question and one of the winners from this week are the same.

ALL ENTRANTS (in order received):

ALL ENTRANTS (in order received):

NOTES:

There were 14 contestants who participated in this contest, out of 58 members of the MHS Class of 1987 (minus the guy running this contest), or 24% of the class. Out of the 14 participants, 2 were male (14%) while the other 12 were female (86%).

Tracy T. entered the most number of times, with an impressive 12 out of 14 entries, including 3 Weekly Winners and 7 Second Place Winners. Tracy also has a streak of 11 continuous entries from Question #3 until the end. It should also be noted that 2 out of her 3 Weekly Winner entries were the first ones received, so the fact that she lives in a later time zone does not seem to have an impact on this contest. In terms of entries received, Denny F. comes in second with 9 out of 14, and Jill T. comes in third with 8 out of 14.

Amy M. has the best percentage of correct entries out of entries submitted -- 100%. Of course, it should be noted that she only entered once (with Question #1), won that week's contest, and then proceeded to not participate again. Among Weekly Winner contestants who participated in MORE than one week, Jill T. has the best percentage with 5 out of 8 (63%), followed by Tamra D. with 3 out of 5 (60%) and Denny French with 4 out of 9 (44%). For Second Place Winners, Kim D. is an impressive 3 for 3 (100%) and Jane G. is an equally impressive 5 for 6 (83%).

There were 14 total questions, and 14 participants, and if everyone had participated in every single question, there would have been 196 entries. In the end, there were 61 total entries, or a 31% level of participation. Out of those 61 entries, there were 40 "correct" entries, so one could say that 66% of all the entries had something resembling the right answer.

It is interesting to note that, once you count Jill T.'s "double bonus" entries, that the total number of Grand Prize entries and Second Place entries is the same -- 21. This is entirely coincidental and was not intentional in any way.

Summary of entrants who are qualified for the prize drawings at the end of this contest
(plus the number of entries that they will have in that particular drawing and the odds of winning):

GRAND PRIZE CONTESTANTS: (21 entries)
(one winner to be chosen)
NAME ENTRIES ODDS OF WINNING
Jill (Tracy) Darbyshire 7 entries (including 2 double bonus entries) 1:3
Denny French 4 entries 4:21
Tamra (Dyer) Campbell 3 entries 1:7
Tracy (Pesavento) Thompson 3 entries 1:7
Amy Maupin 1 entry 1:21
Maribeth McBride 1 entry 1:21
Candice (McEnroe) Fletcher 1 entry 1:21
Anne Ray-Patrick 1 entry 1:21

SECOND PRIZE CONTESTANTS: (21 entries)
(5 winners to be chosen)
NAME ENTRIES ODDS OF WINNING
Tracy (Pesavento) Thompson 7 entries 1:3
Jane Grande-Allen 5 entries 5:21
Kim (Davis) Daniel 3 entries 1:7
Denny French 2 entries 2:21
Anna (Bendall) Morgan 1 entry 1:21
Candice (McEnroe) Fletcher 1 entry 1:21
Anne Ray-Patrick 1 entry 1:21
Jill (Tracy) Darbyshire 1 entry 1:21
It should be noted, for the Second Prize drawing, that once a winner is selected, all of their entries are removed from the pool before the next winner is selected, until five winnners have been drawn out of the pot. Therefore, one's chances of winning improve as the drawing proceeds, especially if those with a greater chance of winning actually win. For example, if Tracy P. is the first name drawn, then everyone else's odds improve to 1:14 or better.
