There are those that say
how memories,
in many cases, can be
stimulated by
items or objects of a visual nature,
such as photographs, and
that constant reinforcement of those particular memories,
however insignificant, over time, will produce an
end result of those memories remaining in the
human consciousness.
In fact, this is true.
Decades, specifically, two, have passed,
darn it, and amazingly,
especially considering all of the other
nonsense that passes through our
cranium, many
of these older memories are
not only crystal clear as if they
took place yesterday, but the fact that their
existence can be confirmed is
something that is nothing more
than astonishing, especially to those who
say, rather
embarrassingly, that their memories are
notoriously full of holes,
due,
undoubtedly, to the fact that their memories were not
stimulated by constant reinforcement as ours were,
through our massive collection of photographs --
hundreds, in fact -- taken
ever since the year of 1976,
not to mention that we
also own a complete collection of the
Model Laboratory School yearbook, The
Exemplar, from 1974 to 1987, as well as The
Observer, at least the issues from 1984 to 1987, our
Freshman
through Senior years, with just a few
holes in that particular collection. The
end result is that we have been able to
preserve the memories of these
events over the past twenty years,
regardless of the fact that we may not have done
so willingly, but unconsciously,
over time, because we took the photos ... we had the
newspaper articles ... we had the artifacts and other
items of interest ... and
not only because we had all of
this stuff, but also because we
had the opportunity to review and
examine and re-review and re-examine and commit to our
brains all
of
the details associated with
those images, and that is the
overall reason as to why our
memories of these situations is considerably, excuse the
pun, more photographic than most anyone else's.
Hey, we aren't bragging
or anything,
this is just how we remember these things,
otherwise we wouldn't be here.
On the other hand, one could always suggest the
notion
that our ability to recall these events from
history is due to the
extraordinary fact that we have no
life and that the
empty spaces in our brain could be better
filled with something far better.
Time will tell!
