The musical term "d.c. al fine" (short for "da capo al fine") literally translates to "the head to the end" -- in music, this means to return to the beginning and play to the end. d.c. AL fine is the title of the forthcoming "scrapbook" celebrating 24 years of Allan D. Stephens' career at Model Laboratory School; the all-caps "AL" in the title referring to Al Stephens. This limited edition book will be published by JLK Productions in June of 2006 and will consist of tributes, photos, anecdotes and stories taken from this website as well as from the MHS Band Alumni Network site. The current plan is for the book to be divided by year, with tributes from band members who graduated in those years to be accompanied by photos and other related text. As warranted, other sections may be included with longer stories and anecdotes, as well as photo galleries. A hardbound "commemorative" edition will be released on June 2, 2006, tying in with the forthcoming retirement celebration. A softcover edition, containing photos from the celebration itself, will be published in the fall of 2006. In order to fill these pages, it will be necessary for the band members of Model Laboratory School to contribute. Monetary contributions are not required, but your tributes, photos and stories are what is needed to make this project a reality. Submitting a tribute to the FADS Tribute Page is a good start. Contact us at fads@jlk512.com if you have any stories or recollections or memories that you wish to share. We will work with you in any way to get this material down. Time is of the essence, though ... we will need to get this book to the printer's by the middle of May. We hope to hear from you soon. |
