Invitees were instructed to be at the restaurant by 6:00pm that evening, to dress in black (ahem, Joe and Neal), and to bring a cheap plastic necklace (to be presented to Mr. Stephens). After many introductions and re-connecting and distribution of plastic beads (brought from Louisiana by the Kwaks, just in case people forgot to bring any), the guest of honor (escorted by Scott Zarzycki) arrived at 6:10pm, expecting a normal birthday dinner with family and friends. However, when he walked in the door, a small crowd awaited him, singing "Happy Birthday" ...
Reacting quickly to the situation, Mr. Stephens takes command of the "conducting" of the song.
Handshakes, hugs, and presentation of the necklaces followed.

Mr. Stephens is presented with a gift from Bradley and Tara Boneta. To ensure that it is not explosive, he makes sure to open it under their faces.
It's a birthday party, so you must wear your party hat. The staff at Casa Fiesta have other plans (like any self-respecting Mexican restaurant), and so Mr. Stephens must wear the obligatory birthday sombrero.

If you have been to a "real" Mexican restaurant and have seen or been involved with a birthday party, then you have a good idea of what is coming next. If you haven't, then you might want to watch the video before scrolling down to the next set of images. Mr. Stephens is presented with a birthday cake (more of a sugar-stuffed dessert), the servers sing "Happy Birthday" in Spanish, and then ... |

At this point, the party began to break up, as the Casa Fiesta staff began tapping their feet impatiently so that they could use the numerous tables that the Model Lab Band People had been hogging for the past two hours. Goodbyes were said, and people went their separate ways, and Mr. Stephens believed that this was a fine birthday surprise and that tomorrow, he and the immediate family would be having a day of fun at Renfro Valley ... little did he know ...
